Long Time, Oh Well

I know, it's been a long long time, and I owe my blog a fairly lengthy update. July went by in a FLASH, nothing interesting really happened except a few trips to the beach with some friends.

There was a birthday party...

Then August happened. I got my car back from the body shop...

My family the Ivanovs came to visit....

Of course, AS THEY WERE LEAVING, a wildfire broke out just a little ways from my house. Sorry about the delay, Ivanov family!!

The next day, our good friends and neighbors, the Coslows, moved away. There were many tears, but we all wish them luck in their futures.

Of course, the next day, I was talking to Greg on our tablets (texting), and he informed me that he wasn't on a mission, as he lead me to believe. He was actually on his way home, and would be home two days later, on Monday! It was one of the hardest things to keep such exciting news from Celeste, so I told Caleb all about it. To explain why we had to hang his banner, I told her we should make sure it looked pretty just in case we want to take it down and do a different one. I told her we were going to a Marine party so she should wear her pretty dress I made. Of course, Caleb would feel bad if he didn't get to wear something nice, so he should wear his cammies. She wanted to bring flags.

She had no idea what was really happening.

Suddenly......Greg ran up behind them and gave them HUGE HUGS!!

It has now been a few weeks since his return, and since then, he has checked out, then checked in, and, of course, started working on the misteress (the car) almost right away. True story. It is nice to have him home, though. The kids love hanging out with him in the garage, which gives me time to get some things done that I need to. I love love having my husband home again. it is so nice. So nice.

the end.

Cheers and Tally ho!

Riddiculous.

So. I know, i havent written in a while, and I will soon. But right now I just wanted to show off one of my latest little crafts. I started with three flower pots of different sizes (with a hole on the bottom of each one!), found a small metal stick in the garden section of Home Depot, and some spray paint. If you don't know me, my family is very patriotic. I LOve Americana decor. True story.

So. First I had my teenage neighbor help me paint the pots the base colors, red white and blue. We let them dry overnight.

For the big red one, I used blue painting tape to make two stripes. If you think it's easy to make straight lines on a cilinder shape, you obviously havent tried. After making the stripes, I painted them white.

The blue one I used a stensil and made white stars.

The little white one got my kid's handprints on them. Then, I hammered the pole into the ground where I wanted it, and put the red one on the bottom, putting the pole through the bottom hole and leaning the top against the pole, making it tipsy. I stacked them on top of eath other in opposite directions. This is what it looked like before cutting the pole:

Then I marked where the top of the white pot hit, took the white one off, and cut the pole with a wire cutter.

When I put flowers in it, I start by taking off the white and blue one and put the flowers in the red one, then put the blue one on and plant flowers in it, before doing the same with the white one.

The whole project took less than a day, including the overnight drying.

Cheers and Tally ho!!
